Huck and Jack
We rented the jackhammer late last night after work so we could start bright and early (not too early) this morning.
We have thus far spent the day destroying our backyard. Demo is my favorite part!
Jack hammering is easier than vacuuming. Except the jackhammer, unlike a vacuum, weighs a lot.
Huck and Jack the Hammer:
We have scored a few tons of pea gravel for free from an exhibit on the National Mall. We’ll have to rent a truck to haul it, but that won’t be a huge expense. We’ve also scored 10 cubic yards of free fill dirt that will, hopefully, be delivered this weekend!
Our plan is to regrade the area with the fill dirt, put down a layer of construction sand (which we are still looking for, but will buy if we can’t find it elsewhere), and put the pea gravel on top for a nice little patio area and walkway around the side of the house.
I’ve scored some stepping stones and will make mosaic ones, too…. I’ll post my drawings of our landscaping/patio/yard project soon.
